LESSON OVERVIEW

Private instruction provides a solid musical foundation for students. Students also benefit from opportunities to engage in collaborative learning and performance. In the studio, voice and piano students participate in multiple modes of instruction:

  • Private instruction
  • PIANO PARTIES (Group/Collaborative Class)
  • Recitals (usually 2 per school year)

Private lessons are individual and will be tailored to meet the specific needs of each student. A variety of teaching strategies and techniques may be used to help students during their musical study. Technique, repertoire, music theory, sight reading and ear training will be a part of lesson curriculum for both piano and voice lessons. Music history & composer study may also be included in lessons.

Students are expected to arrive on time and prepared with lesson materials. Students should arrive no more than 5 minutes early, and are expected to be picked up on time. Students should plan to wash their hands before playing the piano. Students are expected to keep their fingernails clipped short at all times.

Parents are always welcome to observe lessons! I recommend that parents take time to sit in on their child’s lesson at least quarterly. The instructor respectfully requests that parents be available either in person or via phone during the lesson time.
